Complete Mouth Rehabilitation in Fixed Prosthodontics: An Individualized Approach
### Course Description
The goal of complete mouth rehabilitation is the long-term restoration and/or enhancement of a functional and esthetic dentition. Along with the complexity of such treatment, the selection among a variety of available materials and techniques can make the procedure even more challenging. This complexity increases when restoring patients with different facial types and dento-skeletal classifications. As prosthodontists and restorative dentists, it is of crucial importance to understand and classify patients to better define the objectives and limitations of treatment. To achieve a stable functional and esthetic result, it is important to do a correct diagnosis following some standard parameters.
This course will outline an individualized approach to prosthetically restore or enhance dento-facial harmony through fixed complete mouth rehabilitation. The most relevant criteria for diagnosis, treatment planning, VDO decision, and treatment sequencing will be discussed, along with key functional and esthetic guidelines. Guidelines to recognize different facial types and the implementation of important orthodontic principles for a correct prosthetic rehabilitation will be presented.
### Key Learning Objectives
- Recognize different facial types and dento-skeletal patterns to better define the objectives and limitations of treatment. - Understand the key principles of diagnosis and treatment planning, including VDO determination and treatment sequencing, to achieve a stable functional and esthetic result based on standard parameters. - Understand an individualized prosthetic approach that integrates functional and esthetic guidelines, along with selected orthodontic principles, to restore or enhance dento-facial harmony in fixed complete mouth rehabilitation. - Learn about the selective integration of digital workflow in complete mouth rehabilitation, with emphasis on prosthetically driven virtual planning and guided implant surgery. - Discuss restorative material selection based on functional and esthetic performance, strength requirements, biocompatibility, and long-term prognosis according to each patient's condition.
