Periodontal disease is closely linked to systemic health and requires a personalised approach to diagnosis and treatment. This webinar explores how dental professionals can integrate periodontal care with general medical screening — putting the mouth back into the body.

### Learning Objectives Describe the relationship between oral health, mental wellbeing, and quality of life. Explain the bidirectional association between mental health disorders and oral health behaviours. Discuss the emerging evidence linking periodontitis with Alzheimer's disease and dementia, including inflammatory and microbial pathways. Apply evidence-based periodontal diagnostic principles in accordance with European Federation of Periodontology (EFP) guidelines, including the 2017 classification of periodontal diseases. Identify EFP-recommended periodontal treatment objectives, including biofilm control, inflammation reduction, disease stabilisation, and prevention of progression. Accurately stage and grade periodontitis to inform prognosis and treatment planning. Recognise the role of periodontal diagnosis, treatment, and maintenance in supporting long-term systemic and cognitive health.

### Course Overview Participants will explore simple, evidence-informed strategies that can be incorporated into patient education to support autonomic balance, reduce inflammatory burden, and strengthen preventive outcomes. By broadening the lens of periodontal prevention to include stress physiology and nervous system regulation, this session encourages a more comprehensive and biologically informed approach to patient care. ### Learning Objectives - Understand the interplay between stress and autonomic nervous system activity in periodontal disease - Recognize Stress-Related Clinical Indicators - Apply Practical Strategies in Preventive Care ### Course Details **Duration:** 1 hour **Format:** Online Webinar **Language:** English **Certification:** CE certificate available
